I am excited to officially launch Savor Ann Arbor’s free app with self-guided e-tours of the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor area. The first e-tours available for immediate download are the most popular Ultimate Foodie Tour, along with a Chocolate Heaven and Ann Arbor Highlights tour. Anybody with a smart phone, tablet or computer can enjoy the mobile and web-friendly e-tours whenever and however they want. The e-tours are cutomizable and interchangeable, so if somebody is on the foodie tour and notices a stop on another tour close-by, they can just switch tours, or do both tours at once. The e-tours can introduce potential visitors and residents to the area without them even being here!
I’ve been wanting to create this app for awhile because I think the potential for e-tours is limitless, and good for the local economy. Washtenaw County hosts over five million visitors a year. I have seen over and over again how my tours foster a deeper connection between visitors and the local market by sharing the fascinating stories of local businesses, entrepreneurs, artists and landmarks. People feel extra good about spending their money when they have that personal connection.
I created the e-tours using award-winning software from Midland, Michigan-based Map-N-Tour. The software uses three-dimensional, interactive maps, and helped me transform my guided tours into virtual, self-guided experiences.
Look for more e-tours in the future, including the Everyday Art Fair, Art and Architecture and Strolling Tailgate tours.
